Google does Good

So I was just browsing the google websites and I stumbled across something a bit unexpected. Google has a division it seems that deals with more philanthropic issues. It seems quite noble. Take a look, it can be found at Technology-Driven Philanthropy

Some projects include:

Google PowerMeter:
Google PowerMeter is a home energy monitoring tool that gives you the information you need to use less electricity and save money

Google Crisis Response:
Google Crisis Response provides critical information and develops tools to support disaster relief

Flu Vaccine Finder:
Flu Vaccine Finder provides users who search for "flu" during the flu season find tips on how to stay healthy from U.S Health and Human Services and a flu shot which uses Google Maps to show you nearby locations offering seasonal and/or H1N1 flu vaccine.

Also just very recently Google also went as far to help the repressed when it provided Twitter access during the Egyptian Protests. See New Google Service Gives Egyptians Twitter Access During Protests.

I think its really responsible for Google to do this and I think its a great start!
